Welcome to our little world of colour and detail.
We are two sisters, Leela and Asha, with a passion for creating things.
We grew up at Dilkes-Hoffman Ceramics, spending our weekends and school holidays making little animals out of clay to sell for pocket money.
Leela now expresses her creativity through silver jewellery and anodised aluminium jewellery. and Asha expresses her creativity through delicate paper cuts with water colours.
We both take considerable inspiration from our beautiful natural environment.
Asha lives in Beechworth, VIC, with her partner and fat cat, Leela lives in Margaret River, WA, with her young family.
Jewellery
Leela Dilkes-Hoffman
Leela specialises in working with anodised aluminium and silver clay.
Her designs are often small and delicate, and draw inspiration from the Australian bush and coast.
It was during a year off after high school that Leela first got into making silver jewellery, learning from a local artist in Margaret River. However, her art took a back-seat when she moved to Perth and then Brisbane, completing a degree in chemistry and a PhD researching sustainable alternatives to plastic packaging.
It was during three years in the UK, living on the Isle of Wight and advising multinational consumer goods companies on their plastic packaging strategies, that she rediscovered her passion for jewellery making, training at a little cabin in the countryside.
Paper cuts
Asha Dilkes-Hoffman
Asha works with watercolour and paper cut outs to create artworks that represent nature with simplicity and elegance. She loves all things botanical and zoological, with a particular interest in our unique Australian species.
Many of Asha’s earliest memories are of ‘arting and crafting’ and, over the years, she has explored many different mediums. Creativity has been a constant thread in Asha’s life – across her various career pursuits and hobbies.
She originally completed a Bachelor of Design, majoring in Landscape Architecture, which married her love for the natural world with her love of art and design. Landscape Architecture has remained a passion of Asha’s, however, she now works in primary education as a teaching assistant and runs gardening and sustainability programs for students.
